What is an Unprofessional Athlete?

An Unprofessional Athlete is somebody who takes their training seriously, without taking themselves too seriously.

They're the people paying their own race entries.

Buying their own equipment.

Booking their own hotels.

Using their own annual leave.

All for the privilege of voluntarily making life harder than it needs to be.

Some are runners.

Some are weightlifters.

Some compete in strongman, HYROX, CrossFit, triathlon, cycling, powerlifting, or whatever challenge has caught their attention this year.

None of them are doing it for a contract.

They're doing it because they enjoy the process.

The early mornings.

The missed lifts.

The personal bests.

The terrible ideas that somehow turn into goals.

The finish lines.

The camaraderie.

The feeling that comes from working towards something difficult simply because you chose to.

An Unprofessional Athlete understands that training exists alongside the rest of life.

There are still jobs to go to.

Families to support.

Bills to pay.

Responsibilities to handle.

The training matters.

It just isn't the only thing that matters.

Adult PE was built for these people.

The people funding their own athletic endeavours.

The people chasing goals without sponsorship.

The people who train because they genuinely enjoy it.

The people who show up anyway.

The Unprofessional Athletes.
